Monnet Group honours MC Mary Kom Presents 3 lakh INR as a token of appreciation Monnet Woman of Steel

New Delhi, September 24, 2010: Monnet Ispat & Energy Ltd. (MIEL) of Monnet Group, continuing its support for development and providing impetus to boxing in India, today felicitated MC Mary Kom, for wining a Gold Medal in the recently held Women Boxing World Championship in Barbados.Mr. Sandeep Jajodia, Executive Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Monnet Ispat & Energy Ltd. presented a cheque of 3 lakh INR to Mary Kom at a ceremony at Monnet House and honoring her as Monnet Woman of Steel.It is pertinent to note that recently MIEL has signed a 3 year deal with the Indian Boxing Federation for sponsoring the Indian boxing team and as a team kit sponsor. The sponsorship deal covers the entire Indian team –men’s senior, junior and sub junior teams along with the women’s senior, junior and sub junior teams.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Sandeep Jajodia, Executive Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Monnet Ispat & Energy Limited said,

“MC Mary Kom has made India proud once again by winning the gold at the recently held world boxing championship, her stupendous achievement in the 48 kg world women boxing championships in Barbados, proves that she has been amongst the most consistent champion. This is the fifth World championship medal that Mary has won and I am confident of her winning more medals in the upcoming Asian games in November.”  added Mr. Jajodia.
