MONNET POWER LIMITED

With the rapid growth of industrialization, demand for power is rising considerably, resulting in an ever-widening gap between demand and supply. With a view to alleviate this situation, the Government's power policy has thrown open the Power Industry to private sector. Monnet Power was set up to generate Thermal, Hydro and liquid fuel Oil based power. The company has participated in bids for various power projects, government tenders which are in the process of evaluation. Monnet Power Ltd has two divisions namely Ferro Alloys and Power. Ferro Alloys division, at present has a capacity of 36,000 TPA. It has three Submerged Arc Furnaces and produces Ferro Manganese, Silico Manganese. The Power plant has two steam TG Sets of 7.5MW & 37.5MW capacity. The 37.5MW TG Set was commissioned on 15th Dec. '03. The total 45 MW Power is generated by utilizing waste gases from Sponge Iron plants of Monnet Ispat Ltd and by utilizing as supplimentary fuels coal & char. This power plant not only meets the need of Sponge Iron, Steel and Ferro Alloys division suppliment but would also takes care of the environmental cleanliness of the area.

The company plans to further develop a 200 MW pithead thermal power plant to cater to the further needs of the state electricity board and the fast industrialization taking place in the Chattisgarh State.
